Hi, I have a 2002 V70. AC not working as advertised. I can get the clutch to engage and the car cools down nicely by jumpering the relay, and also by applying 12v to the clutch wire at the compressor. I know for sure that when jumpering the relay, the compressor is always on - forgot to check the other way but would assume this to also be the case. I've been doing some looking around online and with respect to pressure switches and the only thing I came up with was about a thermal cutout switch on the compressor. I went to look for it and don't see anything.
Does anyone have any AC system diagrams and or principles of operation? - Having this would help me immensely. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated also!
Thanks...

Sounds like it needs to be charge. I would think the low pressure switch is open and will not allow it to work until properly charged. It is common for the ac system to need a small recharge every few years.

Good point. I did try adding some freon before jumping the relay but the compressor never kicked on. That's always worked before which is what threw me off initially. I'll put my guages on the system to see what those are reading before I do anything else. Also - I wanted to share this cool web site that I just ran across. It's for vehicle AC systems; it's definitely worth saving in your bookmarks. http://www.idqusa.com/lspt.php
Charge was good, actually a little overcharged of anything. Switch on panel appears to be working, but need to verify. SRS urgent service light is on and heated seats and rear defrost doesn't work. All related? Any wiring diagrams for the CC panel out there?

I own a 2001 S60 turbo. Over the past couple of months (cooler weather) the AC would randomly begin blowing warm air if I was doing city driving. If I shut the AC down and turned it back on about 5 minutes later, it would blow cold again. Last week it began doing this more frequently. I took it to a mechanic explaining that if I was highway driving, no problem, but stopped at a light or city driving, warm air blowing. AC never stopped working, just not blowing cold air. He said that it needed something done with the clutch. I paid him to do the work ($132.50) and drove car home. Had both controls set on the coldest setting and air was fine. After approximately 15 minutes, car started warming up with AC still running. Turned blower speed up, cold air began blowing again and 5 minutes later, warm air again. This happens repeatedly. Called guy and he said that the compressor must be going because what I am telling him is happening is not what he fixed. After reading all the posts about bread clip fixes, isn't this what he did? He is adament about me(a female) telling him that what he did wasn't fixing the problem. I don't have the time or opportunity to waste a whole day when it should have been fixed. If he made the clutch adjustment what else could be causing this issue?

With regard to june82000s question I answered in another post however didn't receive a response. The SRS lights are usually tripped by a loss of signal power to the CCM panel. That's why I asked if it had been unplugged in the last question you posted. You need to reset the SRS message before you can attempt to faultfind your climate control panel.
