interior a981 vs b980?

Post by jh_on_the_cape »

I want to replace the rear seat bottom (to get booster seats)
My leather is very worn to begin with.
Will I (or my wife) be able to tell the difference between A981 and B980 color codes?
I found pics on the web and you cannot tell the difference beyond what there is in lighting, camera settings, and wear.

Thanks. I will be driving kind of far to pick it up, and if someone says 'no way, it will look terrible', then it would save me the trouble. Otherwise I will just check myself.

Not sure what the numbers are from (years) but if the choice is between the two TANS, yes, it will be noticeable.
Not a ton but there is a difference.

The a981 is my 2006. I found the same in a 2002 at a parts yard.
The B980 was in a 2003 XC70
The A981 in my V70 was also in a 2002 V70.
Thanks. I think I will just have to see it.

our v70 has black interior, but didn't come with the rear booster seats... ;(

I took the tan rear seats with boosters out of our destroyed xc. It looks pretty funny..... clashes for sure.

BUt then i thought about it, the two pink princess booster seats arn't the best match either! And kids are hard on interiors.
I'll put the black seat back in once my kids are bigger, if the car survives that long.

Again
If these are tan you're wrong
In 2005-2007
The only tan offered was OAK (I don't know the code), if you force me I'll have to go outside and look!

2001-2001 they had at least 2 tans, possibly 3.
One very light, SAND (discontinued), and a darker that was very close to the 05-07 OAK.
Not sure about 03s and 04s

Well it is different, the colors are close, but the stitching is X crossed to look rugged from an XC70.
The price was right so I put them in and it's not exact but it's fine.
I was surprised at how easy the swap was and how light these are. Super easy to ship.

This is a great interior color match chart.

I know this reply is super late but maybe it will still help.

See my response to your question in a previous post.

According to my 2001 options build sheet, Upholstery code A981=Light Taupe. This is from a German order sheet for delivery to the USA. Light Taupe may not be the name they used in America back then.

For replacement parts, you may be limited to the certain years that this color was available. If you are trying to obtain from a junk yard, just confirm the upholstery color code of the donor car before purchasing.

Good luck, I'm sure your mother-in-law will be happy with the repair.

Hey, all - I'm piggyback posting to the most recent entry on a popular topic. I've got the 2001 V70 XC interior panels/floor/dash that look to be very, totally gray. Not tan, not taupe, and from what I know about most woody colors, this is not oak. It's also got the dark brown seats and door inserts and I'm 90% sure this combo is always this light gray when it's got the chocolatey brown seats. Garage kept, almost no fade anywhere inside this thing.

Can somebody tell me my interior color name? My plate code says B984 and everywhere I look says they call that Oak. I'd be reassured if somebody said it's Chocolate on Slate Gray but then Volvo ownership would be too easy. :) Thanks everyone!
