Turbo Coolant Leak
I'm trying to fix a coolant leak on my Brother in law's 98 V70 AWD turbo. I've traced the leak to one of the coolant lines at the bottom of the turbo. It's leaking right behind the clamp. I don't know if it's the inlet or outlet line. The problem is how do you get to it to replace the hose? There's no room to get my hand in there. The clamp is a crimped one, and I can't see the other end of the hose. The only option I see is to pull the turbo to gain access, and I really don't want to go there. Am I missing something? Is there an easier way? I've attached a picture of the leaking hose.

Re: Turbo Coolant Leak
Very common failure. Oil leaks on to this hose and makes it extremely soft. Then it bursts.
Replace the other turbo coolant hose while you're at it too, the one above the exhaust manifold on the passenger side. (About 2" long, straight hose)
The fact that it's AWD makes matters much worse, the angle gear gets in the way of an easy repair. You'll have to remove the intake pipe going into the turbo and do most of the work from above.

Re: Turbo Coolant Leak
I just replaced that hose on my 1998 S70 GLT, here is the DIY. The trick is to undo the Banjo bolt.
But drain coolant first.

The AWD is more challenging, some people suggest that you do this from the top.
Just place a soft mat on top of the engine and lay on top of the engine while reaching down.

Re: Turbo Coolant Leak
I just did this on my AWD and it really wasn't that bad. I did everything from above and it took me a couple of hours to remove the filter box and intake pipe, remove the old cracked hose (I just snipped the old hose clamps), install the new hose with new clamps (a small ratchet, long extension, and 7mm socket is the way to go), and re-install the pipe and box.
