Issue. Before radiator cooling fan kept running after ignition switch was off to the point of draining the battery. In between getting a "new" fan from Erie Vovo I just unplugged the socket on top of the radiator fan shroud. This saved the battery. Got the new fan motor now the old fan won't work any more. Plug in the new motor and it doesn't work either. Checked all connectors that I could see and couldn't find any other relays, also checked the fuses and known relays that could tie the cooling fan to the AC. They are all in working order.
Does any one else have any experience with this? All the other research points to bad fan module (connected to the fan motor) Could it be a bad temperature sensor at the T stat? I do not want to over heat this car's engine! Please advise!
I need to add that after work last Friday I plugged the fan back in and fan motor worked. It was a tad chilly out and I shut the AC off. When I got home and shut the car off I noted the fan wasn't on. There has to be a sensor in the AC system that turns the fan on when the ac system is running. I don't know where this sensor or relay is and is part of the reason it isn't working right!
Thanks!
Radiator fan issue.

Any body else have this issue? I can't afford to take car to dealer or Indy. I would appreciate any advise!

The only issue/experience I have had was a bad power wire to the fan control relay in my 93 850. The single red wire is to have constant power, and mine did not. I looked for other fuses and relays and couldn't find any. I wired in a new power wire directly to battery with an inline fuse, have had no issues since.

Today I went and double checked all the connections and everything was fine. I had ordered a top engine stabilizer from IPD and needed to install it. I installed it today.
Last week I purchased a used unit from Erie Vovo and ground hopped it and it didn't work so I assumed it was the temp sensor in the thermostat housing. The 'new' fan didn't work even with the AC on. Well, I never hard installed it and today it replaced the original. Ran the car and it didn't work. Turned on the AC and low and behold? It works on it's low speed. Therefore it can be assumed that it is working correctly.
Called IPD and ordered a new thermostat housing and sensor assembly and will not need it I don't think. I called before I installed the Erie Vovo fan. Now I think I will cancel the order.
So the moral of this story, you can probably assume the little module on the fan is bad if the fan does not shut off after you turn the key off.
This fan IS designed to run for up to 10 mins or so to cool the engine after a hot run. So, if it is still running for around 20 mins. Then you most likely have a bad module on the fan!
Thanks for your post btw!

Thanks for grinding through the problem for us.
I have the same fan issue and replaced the temp coolant sensor and the thermostat
so I'm onto the entire fan now.
thanks
had a 245dl also and just loved it -ran the living piss out of it if I recall
