Cd magazine changer

I recently purchased 99 C70 convertible. My cd magazine holds 3 CDs. Only the cd in slot # 3 will play. I thought I needed a new magazine. Purchased a new one, tried it out today...still only cd in slot #3 plays. CDs in slots 1 & 2 will not play. Help. Anyone have any ideas why? My radio has a button that says "CD3" and another button that says CD6. I'm lost. Thanks

Unfortunately I'm not lucky enough to own a SC-901 but here is the manual.

From what I can read, you need to select CD-3 and then use radio preset buttons 1 to 3 to select the desired CD.
