2006 S60 2.5T AC problem

Post by geoff813+ » Thu Jun 20, 2013 2:23 pm

This problem started the beginning of last years AC season and a recharge got us thru and it hadnt been tried until a few days ago....hot air again.

Our Volvo experienced local mechanic says the evaporator is leaking and big SS to fix. Since we intend to sell in the fall, it already has 150K, Id like some advice.

Try another recharge or use one of those sealants? Ive heard that the R-134a Super Seal A/C Leak Sealer by Interdyamics is supposed to be the best but Ive no experience with sealers.

Any advice appreciated.

Geoff

Yeah Geoff.. abscate is right. The sealant is a not a good option. The evaporator sits in a tray. As the unit runs, it starts "sweating" if the drain tube clogged up the evaporator sits in water and corrodes then ultimately begins to loose it's charge. It's not that the part is so expensive. You have to remove the dash to replace it. The AC season is almost over... Perhaps if you can hold off until the spring and let the Pro 's take care of it... I wouldn't sell it though. My advice.. My opinion. MDK

My bad for leaving off "Old thread alert"

Was using this one to make a PSA on Sealers since bmdub gave us a real nice picture..
