Non-engine parts/cosmetics

Post by EverRespect »

Anyone know a good site where I can figure out what I need to order and how to fix some of this stuff. My car is falling apart with little, non-mechanical issues. The panel under the steering wheel has been overtaken by gravity and now hangs by a single screw into the hanging leather and the driver side door has become separated from the interior panel (both are currently being held together by duct tape). Furthermore, the front passenger side window rarely comes all the way up without some manual tugging (must be off track or something), the wood panel around the dash is coming apart, and the little plastic piece on by the drivers side back seat against the side of the vehicle broke off and popped out (not even sure of its purpose). One time the convertible top didn't come all the way down, and although that was over a month ago with no issues since and probably had to do with an overpacked trunk, I am sure that will go as well at some point. Seems like every day it is another little thing. Glad it is at least driving well with the XeMODeX ETM I had installed in February. Any advice is appreciated.

I can vouch for that. I'm on my second 850 interior now looking much better with many pieces for pennies on the dollar.
All the leather seats in the sedan, front and rear for less than $200. including the leather door panel inserts. Drivers seat was powered, both heated.

Door panels, speakers, window switches, dash pad, leather steering wheel $7., complete carpet $12.
That is off the top of my head. The finding of the pieces is somewhat enjoyable to me personally. It depends on what type of yards you have access to.

That's right. I shipped a seatbelt clasp to a forum member in Iowa.
I'm moving in a couple months and have to box up all the parts that have stacked up in the basement.
If there is anything you might need, just toss it out there. I may have it.

Try a screw instead.
At one time or another the tabs all break.
Tap and drill a small pilot hole and use one or two small sheet metal screw(s) to hold it up.
Do it neatly and no one will notice. I have done tho almost all the Gen1's I've had

Furthermore, the front passenger side window rarely comes all the way up without some manual tugging (must be off track or something), the wood panel around the dash is coming apart, and the little plastic piece on by the drivers side back seat against the side of the vehicle broke off and popped out (not even sure of its purpose).

A couple of pictures would help here
Year and model always helps here when asking about specific parts

my interior is also falling apart and my pass side front window is also slow to go up.

i've ordered some interior parts from volvopartswebstore. i just ended up taking off the panel under the steering wheels. it got annoying having it fall on my knees while driving. i can't complain though, the car has 295k on it.

I found a site that sells seat covers, not the kind you find at autozone, but the actual leather that goes over the seat. i also found a site for the wood trim around the radio/center console/dash, but for $150 it doesn't bother me that much :P

i'd really like to find the center part on the doors that's like an armrest. mine's down to the foam and there's not much of that left either
