855 Tailgate Spoiler Mounting Kit

Post by Ben850 »

I picked up a Roof wing spoiler from ebay for the wagon. It is in perfect condition, but I'll have to paint it white.
It came with two brackets that were only part of the kit that I will need to do it right. I went ahead and ordered the kit from one of the dealer sites for $42. and change.

I could have added washers to the brackets and used the 3M tape I have, but I would not be confident in the result.
Soon to be white.

I'll post a photo when I get the kit. I believe a T5-Wagon deserves a spoiler.

Use the simpler single piece brackets that were supplied with the spoiler as they don't involve unbolting fasteners from the tailgate hinge, the brackets you purchased with all the screws etc are the older style clamp compared to what was supplied with your spoiler - Mike

I tried positioning it with those brackets and there seems to be nothing attaching them to the hinge, simply relying on gravity and double sided tape.
I guess I'll have both to choose from now so I will end up with whatever seems right.
Thanks though Mike, I wasn't aware that was a complete set.

It is white now. I may attach it with jack stands for that "Ricer" effect.

I received and used the new kit yesterday.
Although the other brackets may have functioned, I am very happy with the stability and adjustability of the complete kit.
I'll add pictures of the brackets installed, but I must reinforce my satisfaction in the adjustability with the clamp and screw system using the kit. I was concerned with getting the pitch and fitment tightness to my liking. Two sided tape would not allow this.

A few shots this morning.
Liking the pitch, but knowing it is easily adjusted.

I picked up a factory wagon spoiler with brackets and longer screws a couple of weeks ago for $40 from a pick.and pull. I couldn't believe how simple the brackets are.

If anyone is in the know does the same spoiler suit the P2 series wagons with a different mounting kit? I placed it against the roof of my 2001V70 T5 and it looks like it could adapt given the right fitting kit.
