2007 C70 timing belt tensioner

Post by kwma01 »

Can anyone give me direction on adjusting the tensioner shown below? I have done the mechanical tensioners but this one is different. The Vida instructions are miserable on this topic. It only says to reverse the removal steps.

I have it installed and I have pulled the pin but I do not know how to orient the arm with the hex hole.

Note to others: The arm with the hex hole broke on the original tensioner with very little force so be gentle when dealing with this.

All help is appreciated.

While I was picking up parts at my Volvo dealer I asked a tech about this and he gave me an answer but he seemed uncertain. He said that you just bolt it in place and remove the pin. The spring should do the tensioning. This seems to make sense however I would really like to have some tell me for certain before I mess up this engine.

Any confirmation???
Thanks

Okay, I went ahead and looked a little harder at this item. The tech was correct. There is no adjustment other than the spring tension. I was just confused because of the old style that required specific adjustment.
