2000 S40 Turbo 10a engine fuse keeps blowing

Post by midimykeys » Mon Sep 02, 2013 11:54 am

I purchased this car a week ago, and it's been through multiple 10 amp engine fuses. Is this a common problem? I search a bit, and it didn't seem like it. What are the steps to take from the least expensive to the most expensive. Other than this problem, the car is great!

The heated nipple on inlet hose to turbo is known for shorting and blowing fuses. Disconnect its electrical connector and see if that stops the blown fuse problem.

Ok I'll try that. I took it to get the check engine code reading, and 7 appeared. In all of the reported solutions for each code, replacing the crankcase vent heater was among them, telling me that I probably needed to do that. I could find a lot of info online, is it a bear to do?

Sorry to address an older forum... but... the same happened to me. lol

Car died suddenly and didn't want to start up. Now, I did go through the wiring to the 10A Fuse labeled "Engine Sensors" and found it in the IACV, EVAC Pump Solenoid, Turbo Boos Solenoid, Turbo "nipple" connector, O2 upstream, O2 Downstream, as well as the pump by the Brake Booster. I have found no wire with a break that might be shorting out.

Does anyone have any idea?

I know that it jumps to Relay 7 and touches on Fuses 17 and 11, but both are fine.

I know Jimmy57 said that it might be the nipple near the turbo that shorts them out, I actually checked this and when i connect it, the multimeter states continuity between the fuse location and ground. Would turning on the engine provide this value to change? is it suppose to short? I tested two separate nipple (https://www.volvopartswebstore.com/prod ... 70269.html) and both two prong connectors are straight through..... is this normal?
