1998. V70 xc. Oil leak behind turbo heat shield

I just cant seem to pin this leak down. Could it be rear cam seal, im seeing oil grub on the top motor mount below the rear cam. Im just going to disassemble that corner of the engine till i see it. Oil return line looks good on both ends. Pvc is done. Oil cap seal is alright. Seems to leak when driven, bell housing drain is dry. This awd attachment is really in the way,lol

The rear cam seals are a snap to replace and they aren't real expensive. You can just replace them and remove all doubt.

Those covers aren't leaking, that looks like oil spray from leaking while at speed.

Is there oil underneath, like on the bottom of the pan, or only below the heat shield?

I just went through this on the V70 I bought. It had 3 different, bad leaks. A good method is to clean it up good, including a spray-down with brake cleaner so the areas to be examined start out bone dry, then take it for a *short* drive and see what gets wet first. That's your leak source. I used the car ramps a lot, for getting under the car and looking up at the turbo and the back of the engine. Of course my car doesn't have that pesky AWD in the way ...

Its every were, I did wipe it down, cant get it to leak till its driven, you gotta rip the fricken motor all apart just to look. since pvc repair its slowed down. I can see front Ex. Cam is most likely the leaking, and like you said oil is getting moved around with air current. And after looking at a cam cover install thats not it, if it were leaking alot more would be going on. Im just gonna do the cam seals and hope for the best, even though it pisses me off I cant put my eye on it, per say.

Well the front and back Ex. cam seals are done, the other 2 looked good. I got everything back together and no start.;( I found that the coil wire was off, oop's, so I reinstalled that and still no start. I walked away and came here and looked around and read a post about throttle position switch being faulty, so I went back out and looked at the throttle body and found the switch unplugged. OOP's #2 , so I plugged it back in and tried to start it again, Nope. so I pulled the plugs and found them wet, I let them dry awhile and came back out to see if I had spark, No spark . I then get a scan tool, found a TPS code, cleared that, and still no spark and, no codes are reappearing. I did find that the whole binding post on the coil for the red wire (12v) is turning, and I turned it a few times thinking it was loose. seems like if that post is turning it may of shorted its lead internally, anyway to test the coil ? Thx for any help

Looks like it could be the coil. all leads are working and still no spark. might of blown it while it was unplugged, or the spinning post could be it also.
