2001 S80 2.9 Transmission Fluid Change @197k
I have a 01 S80 that I brought this year for my son with about 197k. I dont know when the last time the transmission oil was changed. No current issues. Is ok to change/flush or not. I got advise from deal to no do the change based on high mileage. Please help.

I had a similar issue with a high mileage Passat. Flushing would wash out "stuff" that makes the transmition operate. I drained about 4 qts out of the transmition then replaced. Avoiding flushing the transmition. I would ask a GM dealer about high mileage maintenance. They have more knowledge about these transmitions then your typical Volvo dealer.
yeah from what I understand flushing can stir up dirt and make it go places where it will cause trouble. I did a pan drop to change my fluid @ 110k just because I wanted to change the filter too. But I think there's an easier way that involves disconnecting the cooler lines and pumping fresh fluid in through them
