94 855 turbo What should i sell this for?
Hi all got a 94 850 turbo wagon. engine, turbo, tranny are all good. needs suspension like struts and needs axles, a blower motor, and resistor. Needs new rotors in front because it sat all summer and they rusted and that 1 rotor got warped. other then that i just did the full timing belt at 138 cause water pump was failing, i did whole pcv, did all new silicone intercooler hoses, fresh air intake hose (turbo hose) upper engine poly mount, mobile 1 syn 10w40 every 5k, did a few trainy flushes. full tune up about a year ago. i just did the full timing so that gotta raise the price a little lol. anyways my highest offer is $1200 should i do it considering the amount of work needed or should i just sell it and buy a non turbo something that will last forever? And also another important ? The things listed wrong, how much you think it would be to fix all this stuff myself so no labor but part wise? And get it reliable?

Man , I'd keep it. I have over 240,000 on mine and it runs as strong as ever. I have been using Mobile 1 as well and Blackstone Labs told me that they see very little wear in my motor.

A 1994 should show up in the NADA used guide. Price it there.

You've done too much work to let it go. I suspect that you can get parts cheaper by doing a little more research online. For instance, I had recently put a set Powerstop Brake Kit on my brothers Lexus GS300 and they work exceptionally well during and after the break in process. No kit for the 94 850 just parts. That can save you a few dollars or have O'reilly's cut the Rotors for $15 dollars each if still within spec. Did the front brakes for my sister in laws (now mine) 03 Odyssey for $50 (Front Pads, $30 Cutting) and they've been excellent for the last 6 months.
My brother's Mechanic put some kind of green pads (too hard) on his OE Rotors and warped them. Blacken from heat.

Complete Front Strut and Rear Shock Assemblies for $400. Leave you another $401 for the rest of lower cost parts. Except for the rear Strut Mount I've had this set up for about the last 1.5 years. Still exceptional.

I'll give you $1,200 for it. What state are you in and how many miles does it have again?

thx for the info and time to help me out bkm. yea pretty much those were all parts from fpc. offcourse i can cut corners on a few of these parts like the blower resistor. rotors. stuff like that. im just scared with this that im gonna do all this work then the car is gonna be running good and bam the turbo blows or something big lol. manoman im in connecticut, and it has 138k just did full timing belt with the kit cause waterpump failed.
I've never heard of a turbocharged Volvo blowing its turbo. Even if you have really bad luck and a foreign object gets sucked into your turbo (next to impossible! There's a fresh air pipe seated snug on the turbo compressor housing) you can still go to the junkyard and pull one of another comparable or better 850/x70 for under $100.
The two big things are the engine and gearbox which sounds like you've maintained them to last another 100k easily.
Keep it, if you sell it you'll kick yourself the same day.

hahaha. yea after seeing what its gonna cost to fix. I am leaning towards keeping it. You guys are definitely giving me the courage to do this all by myself. If i did a full pcv, timing belt kit, intercooler hoses tuneup and basically everything i did myself, if i can do all that should i be able to do full suspension , axles, rotors + brakes. Because i will be doing all this work myself. how hard are these needed jobs compared to the ones i already did that i just stated^^^.

LOL, if you need a reason to sell it, sell it to the guy with his face in his hands (Man, man oh man). I can get most of those parts, close to new, from my local salvage yard. A blower motor is about $25, CV axles, $25 each, rotors about $20 each, etc. If you think for one minute that there are no new parts in the salvage yard, you are shut in way to much.
Almost every car in the junk yard has some parts on it that have been replaced within the past year. Especially if they have been having running issues and was trying to get things running right, throwing parts at it just to find out that they have a burnt valve.
Sure, get new parts if you can afford it. Saves time and takes the guess work out. It's only about 3 car payments.
