99 s70 2.4 , Small coolant leak radiator !

Post by nonturbo »

Hey guys , 99 s70 2.4 , small coolant leak radiator ! Don't believe its coming from the tank seal... It drips about a 6 - 12 oz's overnight , and is intermittent . Thinking of using Bars Aluminum Stop leak or Prestone super aluminum stop leak with the Kevlar particles . Any recommends for temp fix !!

Best to just pull it and drop in a Nissens from FCP. Temp fixes cause an even more expensive issue about 20% of the time. Sometimes after the rad was replaced as tech did not flush the system to get the particles out.

Your call

Replace the rad or the hoses. Figure out which is leaking.

Don't play coolant roulette. It's not worth it.

Saw the leak dripping from passenger side near the tank, not sure it's the tank... no $$ for radiator now, have to replace later.

Then park it. This means that you can't afford to drive. Radiators at a salvage yard are about $40. There are a lot of them in there that are good and some that are newish.

I replaced mine a couple of weeks ago. Got one new off ebay for about $80 (including shipping). Mine had a crack in the seam on the plastic side of the radiator on the passenger side. It's not too bad of a job. I did it in a few hours and I am a horrible mechanic. If you poke around a bit, many will recommend you replace the green clips and o-rings for the transmission cooler lines where they connect. I'd agree with them, the green clips get real brittle and if they crack you could have one pop out while under pressure. Here's this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/BRAND-NEW-QUALI ... aa&vxp=mtr

Do your due diligence and see if there are any reviews. These guys seem legit, and it is warrantied. $80 shipped isn't too bad. Mine was similar and seemed pretty solid, but your mileage may vary.
