Hi all--
Anyone know a cheap source to get a key made? Is there some kind of transponder in these keys or can I buy a blank off ebay (like photo below) for $10 and get it cut at a local locksmith? Any help is much appreciated!

I think that you can just cut it.
Immobiliser in these cars communicates with remote key fob(Volvo Guard Alarm),not with the key.

98 doesn't have an electronic fob, any locksmith can cut it. Sort of an odd cut but I think common for a locksmith. On ebay there's a dealer in KS I think that sells the keys already cut if you give him the keycode/vin as long as ignition is original I guess.

Hendrick Volvo, $10 plus shipping and it will be all cut and work perfectly. Just bought a couple in August.
