99 v70xc rough running ,code for cyl. 4 misfire

was driving on interstate and car started running rough and shaking some, poor power. code for cyl. 4 misfire. parked in garage and left it to travel for the holidays. idling was very rough, and low power so I'm betting BAD COIL on cyl. 4. i have volvo plugs with 20K on them. I'll keep you posted.

Swap the coil to another cylinder and see if the misfire follows the coil. If so you found your problem for sure.

well I switched 3 and 4, and code stayed with 4. the coil for 3 had the boot part of the coil come off by staying in the hole, but I was able to get it on 4 OK, and the code stayed on 4. cleared it twice , plug looked oily, and even with new coil I had, code stayed with 4. p304

well, bad compression result: 0 pressure in that cylinder 4 twice and 120 or so in 3 next to it. S**t!

well a good local machine shop will rebuild Volvo heads! I am going to buy head gasket kit and wonder, are all 12 of head bolts the same size?(the chassiss number at end of my VIN are 594432)

well unplugged #4 injector and drove it today. started slow at 15 degrees, and ran with less power, but nice having 4 wheel drive in the snow today

got the head off and plan to take it to machine shop in town. where is the directions how to reset the VVT, and set the timing? have VVT on exhaust cam
