I have a 2006 V50 that has a torn rear bushing on the right front lower control arm.

Looking to see who has replaced these before. Many of the later Volvos have control arm bushing failures and I wonder whether the rear bushing is easily replaced separately or would a complete control arm be a better solution? Any issues encountered during this swap?

Thanks,
Dave

On another forum I visit, a guy said it's easiest if you have the car on a lift and remove the whole arm. I imagine the bushing can be muscled off w/o taking the whole arm off. Most people have replaced the complete arm instead of just the bushing as quality aftermarket arms complete with both front and rear bushings and new balljoint are included at much lower price than OEM Volvo part. If you order the complete arm, be sure to check your chassis number(last 6 digits of the VIN) as there are two sizes of ball joints.

Thanks for the reply Ben. I did the job and replace the complete arm with a Lemforder aftermarket arm. When I took it off, it didn't seem that that bushing would come off easily by itself. The job was fairly straight forward and took less than a couple of hours.

Cool, Dave. I plan on doing the driver side when I have to do the axle, too. :-)

Hi,
Its not always easy to replace the control arm bushings unless you have thorough knowledge about doing it.I found it difficult to do it , but with the help of manual you can try for simple replacements. View this post about the control arm bushings.
