2001 X/C 70 220000 miles

Hello All
I have a 2001 X/C 70 2.4 LPT. no codes, no cel, no messages on dash, but I have an odd smell coming out the tailpipe. no excessive or blue smoke. I appreciate any help

Animal climb in there?

i would stick your fingers in all the fluids and see if any of those smell the same, engine oil, transmission, coolant.. then it could indicate a problem that you are burning one of those.

or does it smell like sulphur (eggy), that would be the catelytic convertor.

I had a squirrel once made a nest in my engine, didn't notice, drove and cooked him.. poor little guy..

What does the exhaust smell like? Does the car run without an issue?

No Running issues or sulphur smell. Possibly smells like it's running rich but fuel economy is fine & again no cel. Thanks for your help. I am very puzzled by no cel. if you look at this car the wrong way it trips a cel.

2001, oxygen sensors are old and ineffective.

does it smell like when the car's cold and just been started up ? that'd be the catalyser

Smell is always there. at start up, & whether I drive 5 or 50 miles. Thanks for the suggestions

How's the oil and coolant level? If ok and no codes, can't say there is anything to worry about.
