1998 945T ABS system, intermittent fail

Post by V850B5254T »

Hi,

I'm been away from this forum for some time due to work overload...

Now I have this problem with my wife's 945T/98 European issue:
The ABS lamp seems to have its own life, - it turns on and off with irregular intervals.

In Europe we do not have the luxury of an OBD compliant interface in the late 940'ies, -only a licensed Volvo repair shop can read from the bugger and to a price!
To make things worse, the system does not save errors.

Description:
The sensors at the front wheels have been replaced with new.
The sensor disks at the front wheels have been cleaned and checked for cracks.
The sensor in the differential has been checked.

In my world as an electronic engineer, it seems like a bad connection somewhere.
I’ve learned (correct me if I’m wrong):
The signal from the sensor in the differential is routed through the dashboard before ending in the ABS control system.
The soldering on the dashboard is known to be lousy.
The ABS control system in the 940 series is not known to fail (as it is in my 850/97).

I need some help here, - has anybody had similar problems and found a solution?

My regard to Matt for his effort to keep this homepage alive and well and to everybody who helps to make the live of Volvo owners easier.
