98 v70 awd check engine light and other

Post by lowufo777 »

Hey All
2 small issues
1. where is the switch -sensor for the lift gate .I get a light that the gate is open but it is closed and locked ?
2.I have had a check engine light on for 3 years now (never really found the problem ,think was an evap code,no affect on performance. Is there any fuse /bulb wire I could cut to eliminate the pesky light
Thanks in advance !

Im not sure on the lift gate switch.. google it.

As far as the CEL.. I wouldn't cut or remove the bulb its there for a important reason. You need to fix the problem. Do a search on here under evap and you should find some info as far as where to start, more than likely its a broken vac hose causing the problem.

The link to the problem may not be the same as yours but check your fuses anyways. I had the truck open warning in the dash on along with the the door chime constantly. Took the lock/latch assembly out and open/cleaned the micro-switch and it did not fix it. It turned out to be a fuse. Can't remember which one so check them all.

Tailgate switch is in the latch.
A shot of WD40 might loosen it up.

Killing the light that's trying to help you is a bad plan.
That CEL throwing a code? There are a ton of folks here
that would be happy to help you turn it off the right way.
Most parts stores will read that CEL code at no charge.

Plus a dead cel is an automatic fail at inspection time.
