I have a 2005 XC90 2.5LT AWD with 93,000 miles on the clock. I have the check engine light on and "Engine System Service Required". I clear the codes and lights but they come back on the next turn on. Codes are 0101 and 0102. I have done all the logical things, MAF replaced, air leak checks, hose replacements, Oxygen sensor replaced but no luck.
I was interested in some posts on Fuel Control Units causing these codes. FCUs on this model are located in the rear drivers side wheel arch (on RHD cars - mine) and the rear passenger side wheel arch (on LHD drive cars - US). Well when I went looking it wasn't there and I also checked the other side and no luck. I am reading that there is relocation kit that installs it inside the car to protect it from water etc. I am assuming that this modification has been done to my car but I can't find it without. Best clues I have from the web is under rear sets (mine is a 7 seater) and under the caperts. I've looked as best I can but any further looks like I have to dismantle the car.
There is Technical Journal 19430 (RTJ19430-2008-07-31) Replacing and Relocating the fuel pump control module but I can't purchase even a PDF version from Volvo Cars of North America as it won't take my address details in Australia.
The part number for the FCU (also called an Pump Electronic Module ) and harness Part#: 30769225
Does anyone have access to this bulletin or know where the FCU is relocated to?
Appreciate you time and help
Cheers
Martin

Alright so i replaced the fuel pump after it died on the side of road, then ended up with similar intermitant hesistiation. Pulled the codes which lead me to believe my PEM was the likely problem after encountering this thread.
My Local Volvo dealership quote $541 for the parts plus labour to relocate and install. Naturally, I ordered a ruggized PEM from Xemodex $299 and armed myself with the tutorial. However once I got liner pealed back from the passenger rear I found no PEM to replace. If it was relocated by volvo at previous service where would I find it now?
Thanks
Mike
