Boneyard tool kit

Post by kahl »

Hi guys, Thanks to Richard my Nephews, BIL and once a month go to an outing out the Pull A Part on the West side of Cleveland. After lugging around 50 lbs on steel I broke down what we use to a more manageable tool kit. I think we could dismantle an entire car.
I would like to see what others carry to the bone yard.

I usually alter my tool kit by scoping out the parts and cars first so I don't have to lug everything around. But I usually add more tools than I think I will need just in case.

Really depends on what I'm going after. I may walk in there with no tools if I know I'm going in there for something I can take with my bare hands, like a Volvo radio.

I do like what you have but I usually go with a 40 piece ratchet set and a small box that has torques and other general tools.

I been there twice. I love their inventory system, other bone yards do not know what they have.

I had a couple of Pull-A-Parts in my last city, Little Rock.

Here I have a U-Pull-U-Pay. They get a lot of cars but the place is a flat out mess. I'm surprised that people don't get hurt here daily. Busted windows, parts all over the walkways, cars pushed over, it is dangerous.

A nice addition to that kit is pry bars. I bought a $10.00 set a Harbor Freight and they have been very helpful. My U-Pull doesn't allow crowbars but they haven't said anything about the pry bar equivalents.
