2007 S60 "anti skid service required" warning when it is hot
It has been going on and off for about a year now. The "anti skid service required" message and the stability control indicator light would come up when I make a tight turn and remain on as long as I continue to drive. The "anti-skid temporarily off" message and the STC light would come up when next time I turn on the engine but they would go away in a couple minutes. Strangely, the problem only happens when the ambient temperature is relatively high, i.e., it comes up frequently in summer but essentially disappears in winter, with spring and fall in between. Any experience/ insight on this? Thanks.

The only thing I can think about is a failing sensor. High(ish) temperatures increase the resistance in wires and in sensors.
That's all I got....

Likely cost of repairing your car is £15-£20 in UK. I had the same thing every year on the same day after MOT done. Impossible and highly suspect. When you had MOT done and when when your problem began? Car fixed or not yet?
Problem is with relay on passenger side which is always warm, Black cube. You can open it and try clean metal contacts or you can replace it. Good luck
Kind regards.

Sorry for belated response. I had kind of given up... Good thought. Thanks.

That is a big relief to know. I had thought it might be some expensive fix. Is MOT equivalent to the SMOG test in US? I did not notice any correlation with that though. Will check the relay. Great tip. Thank you very much.

This message applies to the ABS system, and my car will display ANTI SKID OFF, i suspect faulty connection to the speed sensor in the RF wheel, caused by a small leak from the power steering reservoir, I am going to hook up VIDA DICE and will try to pin point with it, will let you know

Hi dialex - thanks for the note. Not sure I get it, but did you get the code?

To those who cared to respond and those who might encounter the same kind of problem - I eventually went to the dealer and got it diagnosed. The problem lies in the steering wheel angle sensor, a.k.a. clock spring. I finally got it replaced today and it seems to be working although I'm yet to wait a little longer and see how it goes. Still have no idea why high temperature is correlated to the anti-skid service though.traveader wrote:It has been going on and off for about a year now.
