2005 Volvo s40 trip computer dash display disappeared

Post by John+Mc+ »

Hi guys, was wondering if someone could help me? My wife left the lights on in the car causing the battery to go flat. After managing to jump start it I found that the trip computer in the dash wasn’t working. It no longer displays anything I.e fuel consumption or average miles etc. is there a way I can get these displays back without having to spend too much? My car is a 2005 volvo s40 diesel.

I was getting SRS reset required messages that led dealer, through VIDA, to a bad DIM. He said a bad jump start can damage DIM, often starting at trip computer.
What does VIDA say? A eBay DIM is $50. Works without dealer programming, but with donor odometer reading.

Try disconnecting your battery and hold the cars + and - leads together for about 15+ seconds.
It should reset the cars computer. ECM
Then reconnect battery and start / test drive to see if restored.

You might want to try charging the battery to with a low amp trickle charger.
