1997 850R - Loose headlight housing

Post by diggler30 »

Hello,

I just changed my headlight bulbs and the passenger side was all lose inside when i was removing the old bulb. The outside glass is fine but the interior of the housing is loose and moves back and forth very easily. Can anyone tell me how i can fix this? I don't want to start taking everything apart if there is an easy fix.

Thank you,

Derek

There are vertical and horizontal adjustment pins basically a ball and a socket. When you install the head light make sure they are both seated properly. one is almost dead center top the other will be at the lower inside corner (closest to grill) either they are not seated or one has broken.

Be sure not to touch the reflective surface in the process. The reflector is easily damaged by even the slightest touch.

How do I actually reattach this? I assume since you are saying not to touch the reflective surface that i need to take the lens off? I guess I can just pull the whole assy out and figure it out. I wanted to make it as easy as possible.

remove the headlights.

Remove both back covers from the headlights. You'll see where the adjuster is and where it isn't hooked up inside. Turn the external adjuster to the correct position to get the ball into the socket again. I've had to do this with 3 different cars.
