I have the Chiltons's manual that I sometimes reference. Most of my research of how do to a task involves reading posts on the subject, repair page at MVS and youtube. I rarely reference the manual anymore.

Virtually everything that you'll need is right here at MVS.
Just to a little exploring, searching and reading and you
should be good to go.

well yeah but its kind of hard to do a job like what I am going to be doing having never done it on this car if I have to keep coming back in the house to wash my hands and get back on here for some reason or another.

I usually print out what I need to know but my printer isnt working with my OS so I kind of want to buy something on paper that way I can look at it step by step or so.

A cheap printer will be cheaper than a good manual, I think

I have the Haynes manual, but I cannot recommend it. Your best source for repair info is
MVS and other Volvo forums on the web.

I would recommend a notebook and pen. Research the procedure on MVS and take notes in the notebook. This way you won't have to keep coming back in the house. The Haynes manual is a nice back up but its best used to support what you find on MVS, not instead of it.

A little trick using laptop in the garage...

- Place the laptop on top of let's say a small table, or tray etc.
- Use a pencil with an eraser at the end. Keep the "eraser end" clean.
- Even with greasy finger, you can hold the pencil at the "tip end" and use the eraser end (instaed of your greasy fingers) to punch the keyboard, scroll up, scroll down buttons...

This way your laptop stay clean even with greasy fingers.
Clean your pencil when all done.
