1994 Volvo 850 turbo value?
1994 Volvo 850 turbo value?
I have been over to see one and it is in really nice shape. I plan to go by and see it again. This one has about 170 K on the odometer and it was really nicely taken care of. He has had it out for about a week and it hasn't sold yet so he has considered dropping the price. He started at 2600. but I talked to him again and he is dropping down to 1800. What I could see is wrong is that it may need a rear main seal. Small drop in that spot on the ground. If I buy it I would change all items for the timing belt. The belt was done about 15 K back but only the belt. ABS light and TRACS is on. Drives and shifts well. Tires are almost new. Paint interior and dash are super shape. I need another car for a daughter and I have two 850's already. These have been great cars so far. Any thoughts on this? Mike

The TRACS/ABS system on the pre-96 cars isn't usually problematic. Pull the codes from Port A-3 so you can see what it is mad about.

RMS is a big job. I've done it twice. Don't underestimate the equipment required to do it within a reasonable amount of time and safely.
Nice looking 850's are hard to find these days. I would pay a premium for a car with good paint and a good interior. Those are things it's tough to get done after fixing the mechanical aspects as they are just cosmetic. I also personally refuse to drive a junky looking car. I'm fine with old, but not junky.
As for the price. With 4 new tires you're talking around $350 or so right there. So the car will cost around $1450. I would say that's fair for both parties.

At that time didnt want to pay that much and he wouldnt come down. Couple of moths went by and ended up getting a nice 95 GLT. After driving several months car ran perfect. Great car. Now car ended up pushing trans fluid. Coming out too fast to live with so I have talked to a good mechanic I know. Will do all seals for sure. I did a different post on this issue- so as to not have two. Mike
