I have read both that I can install an aftermarket radio in my S80 with and without getting flash from the dealer... which is it? Mine has the standard Cd player with cassette. Doesn't have the center channel speaker. I already ordered the radio from Crutchfield.... Hoping I don't have to pay MORE money!!

do the install and see what happens

Crutchfield provides unmatched support

if it needs a reflash, they will know and advise as such

I found the answer... if your car has the standard stereo it is ok. if you have the center channel speaker in the dash your factory nav wont work. There is no other issues(at least for my 2001). Got my system installed and it is awesome!

I have a 2002 S80 with standard radio-CD/Cassette player. My son removed the radio and put in a Kenwood head unit. That worked well, except now I have an airbag system warning that I am told has to be cleared by a dealer for a cost of around $100.

For about $115 you can buy an iCarsoft i906 code reader on Amazon that will let you check and reset all Volvo codes without going to the dealer. It has saved me hundreds of dollars in repair work by locating faults in sensors that can easily be replaced by a non-mechanic.
