1999 V70R Radio Code needed

Post by algarn »

I have a 1999 Volvo V70R. The SC-901 radio is asking for the code. I didn't get any paperwork or code with the car when I bought it. I thought the radio code was on the sticker on the radio. None of what is on there worked. Here is the VIN: YV1LV62D8X2590314. The codes on the radio are 3533896-4969 9841 eIRL 020051 Handwritten: X2590314 Can someone point me in a direction where I can get the code? I know I need to now leave it with the key in the 1 position for two hours because I tried these numbers already. I would truly appreciate any help. I'm getting very tired of my own singing! Thanks.

This has been discussed many times here. You need to call a dealer and have both of those numbers ready. If they try to make you come down or want to charge you, try another dealer.

Actually, upon visiting the Volvo of North America website, I determined it's even easier than that.
Go to this page http://www.volvocars.com/us/footer/cont ... quest.aspx and put in your name, address, phone, the VIN for the car, the mileage, and when you purchased it. When you click Submit, you immediately get the code on the screen. They also send you a very helpful email with the procedure for resetting if you've already tried too many times. The email also indicates what to do if the code they give you does not work (indicating that you have a replacement radio).
Very quick and helpful! I recommend it highly.

I agree but only if the link works. Have you tried it? Perhaps it's a location thing as I'm out of the US. I get a Volvo page with title "Page not found"

If you have an owners manual in the glove box, it probably has a business-card sized white card that has the 4-digit code on it. Also, a lot of owners write the code somewhere, like on the sun visor mirror or on the unit itself.
