2010 V70 R AC leak
2010 V70 R AC leak
I had the AC in my 2010 V70 serviced last week. The dealer said that I needed a pound of R134a which they added along with the dye. Three days later I spotted bright yellow dye on my garage floor. I went back to the dealer and at first they could not find the leak but after I showed them a picture, they found it and said that they spotted dye coming from the evaporator drain. They gave me a quote of almost $2500 to replace the evaporator, expansion valve, O-rings, pipe set and recharge the system. Does anyone have any advice. I have called several dealers in a 50 mile radius and received quotes as low as $1000 to replace the evaporator. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what should be done? Also can anyone recommend someone in Southwest Florida since everyone I have spoken to has never had to replace the evaporator on a 2010 V70.

How many miles are on your V70 R ?
Have you contacted Volvo Customer Service yet and requested cost assistance on the repair of your young vehicle?
Sorry to hear about your A/C, it is awful to be in Florida with no A/C. I feel your pain as my A/C compressor died on my 2010 V70 right out of mileage warranty.
After reading your post as well as my disappointing experience, I have to surmise that the newer Volvos are not the same quality vehicle as the ones made in Sweden.....and I say this as having been the owner of a 2000 V70 which I sold to 'upgrade' to a 2010 model.
As far as dealers in SW Florida, I recommend Volvo of Tampa....I had the 60K mile service done on mine there and they were great.
Hope this helps, be persistent and good luck.
