I'm replacing both of the door lock mechanisms in my front doors and am planning on installing infinity reference speakers in the doors to replace the stock speakers.
I am having trouble locating the little wiring adapter plugs that prevents you from having to cut and splice the aftermarket speakers into the factory wiring harness.
I dont' recall having to cut the speaker wires on my 98.
I've checked amazon and crutchfield and neither of them have it... just the main harness for replacing the factory head unit with an aftermarket piece (which I've already done)
Does anyone have the part number or link to the speaker wiring harness adapters?

I just used the factory shells to hold the new speakers and soldered the wires from the new speakers to the terminals inside of the shell for the front speakers. The factory plug goes back just like it did on the original speakers. I never changed the speakers on my '99s but that is how I did it on my '98 and I think it is all the same.
On the rear doors that doesn't work so I wound up splicing into the harness.
I don't know of any adapters but you might want to check an electronics supply house (An industrial type house, not a consumer vendor) that carries either AMP brand or Amphenol brand connectors. Between the two brands they have about 90% of the market covered. Places like Digikey carry a pretty decent selection online but it is tough to match connectors without having them in your hand plus the freight will be considerably more money than the connectors themselves if you are just buying a couple of them.

I'm running into the same problem with my 1998.
Both the front and rear speakers were (as of September 2018) unavailable from Volvo (list price >$100, each).
The rear door speakers look easy enough -- the terminals are part of the speaker mounting frame, which I would want to re-use with aftermarket replacement speakers.
However, on the front door speakers, the terminals appear to be part of the speaker itself, and not the frame that the speaker is glued to, requiring either an adapter subharness or splicing the standard aftermarket speaker wires into the Volvo wiring.
It looks like adapters that are said to work are available on fleabay -- but from the UK. (Glancing at some of the shipping charges, I'm not sure that they really want to sell to the US.)
Has anyone found adapters that will work that are available in the US? I'd prefer not to cut into the car's speaker wiring harness but the 21-year old speakers are failing and driving me nuts.

This looks like it might work, but the shipping cost is ... high.
