check engine light V70 2003

Post by tecljc4 »

Is it possible to turn off the check engine light so I can get the car smog checked? I know what's wrong I just can't fix it yet. Thanks

Getting the light off resets the emissions readiness indicators they will check with their equipment.
Usually the readiness indicators will not show passed before the check engine light comes on.
What is the fault?

Usually the check engine light is related to poor fuel burning so you won't pass perhaps anyway the smog test. Besides, giving such tips over internet might encourage others to get a little shortcut before selling the car.

Apparently there is not enough pressure in the AC system although when I tried to recharge it the gauge was in the green with about 15 lbs. The AC doesn't work though so something else is wrong as well! All I need to do now is get it smog checked so I can get the tags. Thanks to the other guy as well, I hadn't even thought of selling it!

The AC won't trip the CEL. Something else is wrong with your car, probably an evap system fault
