Hello all;
Just ordered two new headlamp wire harnesses for my aging 1998 S70.
Just wondered if there are any photos showing how to remove the old harnesses and install the new ones? I read an old post by "Ozark Lee" I think and he was talking about using a dremel tool to shave off some tabs to release the old harness. I don't have a clue as to where this is and i really need my headlights now that we are losing are natural light again towards winter. Any help would be most appreciated.

It makes more sense when you have the new parts in hand. There are a couple of plastic locking tabs molded into the connector that snap into the back of the headlamp assembly. The tabs are positioned so that you really can't get to them with a screwdriver to release them unless you remove the headlight itself.
Removing the headlight isn't the end of the world but it was easier for me to just use the cutoff wheel on the Dremel to carve through the old connector to get it out. You do need to be a bit careful not carve up the socket on the headlight housing in the process.

Headlight removal is 3 bolts (and you remove them ill not have to re-aim)...if you remove them they come out with the corner parking lamp attached...it hangs on to the headlight by 2 plastic tabs, and to the fender by one. The trick is to undo the 3 bolts, and keep the whole headlight/signal assembly inline and straight while pulling it directly forward, then pull the signal assembly straight forward to disengage it from the headlight. Its plastic, brittle, and old, don't twist or bend anything as you pull it out and you'll be fine
