2007 S60 Wipers have a mind of their own

Post by MadogV »

Just purchased a 2007 S60 2.5T and I have noticed that if you turn the wipers on they will not shut off. They will run at different intervals and stop at different places on the windshield. The only thing that I have found to work is turning off the car for a long period of time when the blades are at the lowest position. The wiper lever on the column does absolutely nothing once they have been turned on.

Sounds like the rain sensor button is somehow stuck in the on position, you may need a new stalk

Unfortunately this car does not have the rain sensor that I am aware of.

Sounds like bad wiper motor.. Switches in the cam mechanism stuck closed.. Hence stopping wherever on the glass. I'd get the wiring diagram, remove motor and test to confirm.

I would have a look at the wiper arms linkage first. Generally the linkage arm pivots need to be cleaned and lubricated. Most likely the mechanism is partially stuck and it resists against motor operation.

The motor and stalk made no difference, does anyone have another suggestion?

Yes, take it to get the stored codes read, (Volvo dealer or someone with a VIDA DICE set up)
