Another item of discussion: test drove a 1998 V70 R AWD with tracs and ABS light on solid. Asking Price $4100. Miles ~150K
Overall nice condition car. Unfortunately has beige interior.
No roof rails
Needs rear struts
Needs heater core replaced

Worthwhile??

"Rear Struts" if Nivomat you are looking at very big bucks.

ABS Module can be rebuilt by BBA-reman dot com for $69.

That car with that mileage is worth about $3K max.

$2500-3K TOPS and Euro rails were never standard on an R

Agreed, ~3K for the work it needs.

Is the AWD system in working order? Many are not.

I agree that I would try to talk the seller down but people are ignoring the reality of OP's local market: you're not going to find that car for under 3k in Oregon. It will definitely sell for 3500.

Have the car checked out. If it really only has those couple of issues, and the rear struts are not trashed, I don't think it's a bad deal. Volvo enthusiast are usually the last ones to pay a decent price for a nice Volvo.

A WHOLE lot more car. I had a 98 XC70 that I put a T5 engine in and the 2004 V70R I have now is a much nicer car to live with.
