P2 models have the low pressure fitting on the frame rail in front of timing cover. The air pipe from ECM and TCM box is on top of it and will have to be pushed up for the fitting to snap on. Expansion valve systems are tricky to partial charge.

You may have done this... But I'd check where the leak is also... Signs of oily and dust deposits at around fittings, condenser...

Just a side note, it's a very common issue with the A/C to stop working when the engine gets warmed up. If that's the case with your car, it's usually the A/C clutch plate that's faulty.

I think you might be trying to connect it to the high pressure port, which is at the front of the engine, and is what I initially tried to do. Those adapters are made to only fit on the low pressure port.
But on my 2005 XC70 the low pressure port is beneath the Power steering & cooling reservoirs, on the left side of the engine as you're looking at it. You might need to move the reservoirs and the power steering hose out of the way to access it. But I was able to connect it and successfully recharge my A/C after doing that.

That's where I refilled as well. Never try to refill with a can on the high pressure side even if you have a special adapter for it.
