98 S70 Driver's side door will not open
98 S70 Driver's side door will not open
Hi. Yesterday my driver's side door just stopped opening. I have tried the manual lock (that's apparently was not hooked to anything in the door) and the automatic lock to no avail. The key wont even open it. I pulled the door panel back best I could seeing that I can't get the door open and pulled on the wire that connects to the door handle to see if it would release still nothing. How can I get this door open so I can get the panel off to see what is going on? I don't care if it ever locks again I just need to be able to open and close the door. I appreciate any assistance given.

If it won't open you will have to get the panel off first.

I know that. Any suggestions on how to do that seeing door won't open? That's part of the problem. I can only get it partially off to barely get one hand in there but not very far. I'm a woman with small hands so I know a man isn't going to have much luck.

If it were me, I would drill a door knob hole near the match and pop the latch, then get a replacement panel from a junk yard.

Is your interior cloth or leather? If it's Leather (tan) Butler's has an S70 if you trash your panel. And Barry's U-pull-it in Theodore has an S70 and a V70, one of them should have a good panel.
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)
