98 V70 AWD PVC System General Questions

O, I'm looking at the PVC in my car. There's hose leading from under the manifold to the PTC fitting on the intake bellows. The hose has "heater hose" printed on it. Is it a safe assumption that this is the much ballyhooed heater hose conversion? If I detect pressure at the dipstick and end up having to do a PVC job, can I just use that hose over again assuming it's in good condition? With 5~7K between synthetic oil changes how long can I expect the PVC system to hold out? I've got I figure about 80K miles on the one in there now as the mechanic I bought it from mentioned having done the PVC although I had no clue at the time what he was talking about.

But do NOT use any PVC in your PCV :o :lol:

There is a chance that the PCV system will NEVER get clogged or go bad. It really depends on maintenance and driving habits. That being said, I did my PCV system at 190,000 miles and I'm now at 263,000 miles and the system is still in good condition, minus a few elbow connections I had to replace because I was sold URO parts before I knew better.

I usually stick with OEM parts, they should last 10+ years.

As cheap as heater hose is, I would buy a new segment the same length for a few dollars.

It is not like the $45. for the factory piece.

Most heater hose is not rated for petroleum. Even though it is not being utilized to carry fuel or oil, it still does by way of fuel and oil vapor.

Gates green stripe is a quality hose I believe.
