1990 740 Ignition lock cylinder removal without key
How do you remove the ignition lock cylinder on these cars? The person I bought this Volvo from lost both the main key and valet key and while I was able to get one door key from the junkyard off a 1991 240 its lock cylinder housing looked like it did not even.have a release pin or button to pop it out and I wonder if the whole steering column needs to be replaced in these cars. And the dealership and locksmith are out of the question.

I think the entire assembly is replaceable. More info can be found by searching:

It took seven or so hours but I basically had to remove most of the column to get it out then it took an hour to drill to the tumblers. Couldn't drill the release pin out. My next buy will definitely be an American car..
