S40 purchase question

Post by mvsnole »

Hi all
I have/do own 3 volvos (2 xc90s and a v70XC). We are thinking of buying a s40 for my 19 y.o. daughter. I am considering the 2004.5-2007 model years and have a couple of questions. All my other volvos have had the 2.5T and I have become comfortable with it after doing quite a few repairs over the years. I drove a 2.4 normally aspirated model today and it had plenty of acceleration for her needs. So my first question is, are there any repair or maintenance issues/advantages (besides the obvious increase in power) I should consider when choosing the a turbo or NA model.

Secondly, any issues with particular years that might sway me one way or another?

Thanks for your input.

It's a little like asking if French is better than Italian. If you liked the NA, go for it. Personally, that's what I did. I worry about turbos.
