1998 S70 T5 Farewell - Still running strong @ 245,745 miles

Greetings,

I would like to thank everyone here for having kept my 98 T5 going strong since I joined Jan 2012. It was still running smooth till last week when it experienced a joint on the freeway after coming off boost. Started to smell something periodically the next time I drove it and on the following outing the smell got bad.

It was apparent from the street that the smell came from a good size oil leak but the motor was still running smooth so decided just to park it. This week I didn't feel like going underneath with all the oil so just went ahead and donated it:

Could not have kept that $500 car going for almost 3 years without this invaluable forum. If I am ever in the market for a sedan I would start with a 98 S70 T5. Great driving and riding car besides having the best Repair Manual and Mechanics available here on-line. Thank you all!

245k--a good service life from a great-looking high-performance car. It seems more and more P80s are showing up on craigslist as parts cars. Kind of sad to see the thinning of the herd.

My base model '98 V70 got a new used engine a while back and is still going strong st just shy of 280,000 miles.

You're welcme. As are many on this forum, I am just trying to give something back to the community that might help somebody save a few bucks and keep his or her car serviceable for a bit longer.
