2004 V70 Headlight Connector (low beam)

Post by BobbyC777 » Mon Oct 13, 2014 1:50 pm

Gang -

My driver side low beam was out. When I went to change it I noticed the small black plastic piece holding the 2 female connectors (which attach to the bulb) had partially disintegrated. I connected one of the female leads directly to the bulb without the plastic piece but left the other one attached to the plastic since that one was still being held firmly. I read somewhere that the little plastic holder could be bought separately. Has anyone here been able to replace that plastic piece (while using the existing wires and female connectors?)

BTW, the bulb was fine and reconnecting everything solved the problem - for now at least.

I do notice more Volvos with burned out headlamps than other makes.

Thanks.

Bob

Yes. I did mine a couple of years back.
I guess you have the simple H7 bulbs-- Get yourself a pair of H7 sockets (online for $2-3) and solder them in. Easy peasy.

A far better solution is to buy the short adapter with ceramic bulb connection. Your existing connectors attach to the male fitting in the opposite end to the bulb fitting. and you can cover them with insulating tape if you are ultra cautious like me. The whole thing coils nicely within the weather sealing cap that backs the headlight access. these work equally well with the H11 and H7 bulbs.

Hi guys,

What is the consensus here?

- Volvo OEM 8678122:

Or...

- Generic H7 Bulb Ceramic Insulator?

This is what I used when mine disintegrated.

Since the original Volvo part didn't hold up, I opted for another brand, plus the wires are already attached to this one. Just splice or solder in and tape.
