2001 C70 Water in convertible top storage hatch area

2001 C70 Water in convertible top storage hatch area

Attention anyone with a convertible... The area where the top goes down into is gathering water when it rains. I found 4 hockey puck sized drains. The rear two drains I was able to remove their covers and I used a shop vac to clear the drain hose so water does not sit. Drains cleared! There are 2 more drains that are forward and under the top mechanism and are nearly impossible to get at to remove the cover and hence can't vacuum out. Please advise any tips for clearing the front-most convertible hatch drains. Thanks

I don't have a C70 (yet) but can you find the bottom of the drains from underneath in order to clean them out? Use an air hose and put a towel at the drain to catch whatever comes out. The sunroof drains on my XC90 have a problem in pollen season, just like I do, that's how I clear them. Or can you run the top partially up or down, and stop it at an intermediate position ( ignition key off) and access them?
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)

Another though...is there a manual release for the top I order to SAFELY position the top in order to access the forward drains?
Current Volvos:

Thanks. the tops is being stopped mid point for access. I will jack it up the weekend and look from below.
