1997 850 firewall horn - what is it?

On the firewall of my 97 850 volvo there is a part that looks like a horn. It has a connection to it. What is it? There is a cap that screws on and holds a metal piece in the middle of it. It fell off. I have a 96 volvo that has the same part in the same location. I could not locate the part in my repair manual.

Had the same question about mine when I first got it. It is the alarm horn...or if it's as sadly out of adjustment as mine...alarm buzzer. I understand that the center bolt can be adjusted to change the tone. Haven't had a chance to get that far down the to do list on mine yet.

Thanks. I googled it and it is a horn. The nut that holds the center piece fell off and I was concerned about it... not so much anymore LOL. Thanks for the info!
