04 S80 2.9 Need advice on buying

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

04 S80 2.9 Need advice on buying

Post by neworleans »

Hello all,

I am interested in buying a 04 S80 2.9 non turbo with 85K from the first owner.
Car is clean and drives fine but I have some concerns.
My first volvo was a 00 S80 T6 and had so many issues however it was a solid car and comfortable vehicle.
I am currently driving a 00 S70 GLT SE with 105 K and it is in top condition.
If I buy the S80, will have to sell the S70.
The S70 has been a great car for the last 3 years during my ownership.I also purchased this vehicle from the same owner of S80.
What do you guys think about this S80? Is 2004 any better than previous year models?
Would it be a good swap for me?

Thanks..

If you are happy with your current car (S70), why do you want to buy the other car (S80)?

Your S70 with 105 miles needs the timing belt and spark plugs changed and should be good for another 100,000 miles. we have a 2001 S80 none turbo with 147,00 miles and it has been great. Plan to drive at least another 50,000 miles.

Good luck!

Bruce,

Timing belt service was done at 93K with the water pump.
I also changed the spark plugs about 10K ago, basically car needs nothing.
Recently rebuilt the abs module as well.

I don't have any technical advice for you on the S80, but...

I think the S70's styling has aged better than the 1st gen S80. Just my opinion though... to each their own.
