1998 xcv70 fuel leak

Post by thaedge »

Hey all, I have a fuel leak in the hard fuel line pictured and arrowed. The leak is upstream, as in up above the tank.

I'm thinking its the high pressure line coming from the fuel filter? Can anyone confirm this?

The picture is from in front of the rear passenger wheel looking up towards the fuel tank. The hard line turns into a hard plastic hose that runs up to the engine shortly after it enters the plastic shrouding.

Because the pictures are a little hard to follow. Let me ask the question differently.

There are 2 fuel lines running along the passenger side from the fuel tank area up towards the engine.

Question one: is it correct to think that one of these lines is the pressure line from the fuel filter to the engine?

Question two: is the other line a low pressure return line, I would think dumping back into the tank/pump.

My leak is clearly in the pressure line whichever one it is. Is it safe to assume that the other end is coming from the fuel filter?

Picture number 2 is hard to follow, I think the orientation is off vs how it sits in the car. The fuel line #15 I know goes from the filter to the fuel pump, and that end of the filter is pointing towards the front of the car as it sites in the car. The line I have labeled comes off of the filter towards the back of the car, and then loops around and goes forward as a soft tube, transitions to a hard line, goes over the tank, comes out on the other end and meets up with the soft tubes running towards the front of the car. I assume that is the line I'm dealing with leaking, as it is clearly under pressure.
