1975 164E Rusty Wheels & Bent Trim Rings

Post by maj357 »

I have a 1975 164E and need to address a wheel problem. All four 15" Rims are rusty and all four Chrome Trim Rings are bent up from removing and re-applying.
My questions are: 1. Can I put newer Volvo 15" alloy wheels on this 1975 Volvo 164E?
2. Can I use more modern Volvo 15" full wheel covers/hubcaps on my 15" Steel Wheels?
3. They no longer make the 175r15 tires and the closest match, height wise, is the 205 70 15, but I'm
concerned about "rubbing" inside the rear wheel wells. Will the 205 70 15 work with this car?
Obviously I want to make the wheels look better but I do not wish to change the original look of the car too much. Some of the newer hubcaps might work and would not change the look too drastically. The best price I've found to have the wheels sand blasted and painted is almost $200.00 per wheel!

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Roger
