Seems the timing tensioner is starting to wear on the v8? when the temp drops below 40.The engine has a noise, pining sound until it warms up. Then it goes away. During the summer it is quite.Last winter it was very cold in Chicago. That's when it started. When the noise is acting up and I rev the engine. The noise stays the same. It doesn't get any louder. It's not a rod knock or lifter. The only thing I can think of is the timing tensioner. Seems there is one behind the front engine cover and one on each side of the cams.
My guess is the tensioner behind the cover is hydraulically operated. Once the tensioner pumps up it becomes quiet. Are the tensioners in the cam area also hydraulically operated?
Is there any information, YouTube video on how to remove the front cover. Replace the tensioners in the cam area.
Any info would greatly be appreciated.
