Not sure of this, but I recall there are vacuum pipes at the rear of the car at the fuel tank. Seen pipes split there and can be hard to see.

I'm chasing the same one. The only place I haven't gotten into is the top of the tank at the rear of the car. Access from the top coming through the rear behind the back seat area.

It sounds like you've checked most of the usual suspects. I don't know if the '98 has the roll-over valve, but on my '97 a damaged rubber connector hose at the roll over valve was the culprit for the 0455 code. On the '97 the roll-over valve is located near the fuel filter at the RR corner.

My 98 has a rollover valve, definitely check the hoses back there.

Sounds like you covered all the main culprits, I would make a smoke tester or get it tested at a shop.
I have the same problem, but I'm not sure I fixed it, the code takes very long to appear on my car.

After the J hose, the second most common cause of p0455 is probably the hoses at the rollover valve. It's not a fringe suggestion, I would say he definitely hasn't covered the main culprits ... not yet!
