Ive read a few places that the rear differential and angle gear require a fluid change or check but cant find any info on actually doing this at home. I have ramps, hoists, lots of tools and other items to safely lift a full size car and do repairs, etc. If I can keep a 92 and 95 Taurus running beyond 250K as well as a 78 F250 4X4 Id hope Im qualified for this beast. A prior Volvo was a 94 940 I kept to 240K before the head gasket let go and wound up installing a Ford 5.0 HO.
In this case the car has 162K and AFIK nothing has been done to the AWD prior to my buying it from the dealer at 90K. I did change the timing belt at 120K and all regular maintenance is done on schedule.
